The decision on Trump's ballot eligibility in Colorado has led to a surge in death threats, according to live updates.

Jena Griswold, the Secretary of State for Colorado, revealed that she has received "hundreds if not thousands" of death threats due to the lawsuit that led to Donald Trump's removal from the state's 2024 election ballots following a Supreme Court ruling. The 4-3 decision, based on the 14th Amendment, cited Trump's role in inspiring the Capitol riot on January 6 as grounds for keeping him off the GOP ballot in Colorado. The majority opinion emphasized the court's commitment to applying the law impartially, regardless of public reaction.

The decision, currently on hold until early January, exclusively impacts Colorado, and Trump has pledged to appeal it while actively fundraising in response to this setback for his campaign. Amidst growing Republican discontent, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has threatened retaliatory action, suggesting the removal of Joe Biden from the ballot in his state. Additionally, California is contemplating a similar course of action following Colorado's lead.
